Porns is another restaurant that serves delicious Thai food. Two must-try dishes I recommend would be Tom yum soup (I prefer chili paste base), deep fried prawn/fish cake, phad thai, green curry and many more (I'll update as i try more dishes). Porns is opened by Pornsak, a famous celebrity in Singapore that is known for local food programs. Clearly, he has done a good job manning his shops as the Thai food here was great.
Although the tom yum here is less spicy, they have added in a lot of herbs and parsley so it was rather fragrant overall. They serve tom yum in two sizes, the bigger one (above picture) is better as the fire below keeps the soup warm. The one below turned cold very quickly.
Another famous Thai delicacy would be Phad Thai. It is a stir-fried rice noodle dish that is commonly served as a street food in Thailand. Other ingredients can include shrimps, eggs, been sprouts, sotong. There are additional seasonings (palm sugar, peanuts and lime) on the side. This was done correctly here and it smelled very good and the noodles are not too watery. There's a tinge of sourness which can be balanced out by the sugar seasoning at the side.
This is Beef noodles and is one of the lunch set meals. I would say that the soup was a tad bland but nevertheless, the meatballs were springy and tasted good. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place as it is affordable and delicious. It can get rather crowded in the Liand Seah outlet during dinner times but the warm ambiance is great for get-togethers.
