Creamier

My friends introduced me to Creamier and it was a great experience. They serve ice cream of several exotic flavors with earl grey as one of the best-sellers. However, I preferred my usual Cookies and Cream. When I went there, almost every table ordered waffles so we ordered them even though we were told that the waiting time was 30mins. After finishing our waffles in no time, I realized why every table ordered waffles. They were so freshly made and the heat of the waffles tasted sooo good with the cold ice cream. Basically nothing can go wrong when ice cream is served with waffles.

Their serving is surprisingly big and i was quite shocked to receive two pieces of waffle. It costs around $8 for waffles and a single scoop. It may be a bit pricey but this is worth it. As I've been putting rubber bands on for quite a while, it is inconvenient to eat hard food. Luckily the waffles were very soft since they were served fresh from the waffle maker (is this the name of that machine?)

They also serve coffee and some other standard cafe delicacies. Of course, their ice cream is the signature item.

Do take note that the cafe is extremely small and since it is free seating, it can be rather tedious to find empty seats during peak hours and weekends.

Jai Thai (Dhoby Exchange)

Another recent addiction of mine is Thai food. It all started when my friend brought me to Jai Thai that serves delicious yet affordable thai food. We ordered the usual staple: green curry, tom yum, pineapple rice set that comes with Thai fried chicken. And since then, I've been pretty much addicted to Thai food.

I've visited this place several times and there wasn't a time that I leave feeling unsatisfied. The tom yum is that good. Their tom yum are not too spicy and you can clearly taste the coconut milk and the different spices in the soup. Another dish that i always order is the green curry. Their curry is thick and very fragrant and goes well with rice. The set meals (main course, appetizer and a drink) are very affordable (~$8-$10).

Strictly Pancakes (Prinsep Street)

Another post on pancakes. This time I decided to try the renowned Strictly Pancakes. Be sure to come here early as this place is famous for its long queue.

It had been a really long time since I've visited this cafe and I couldn't recall what exactly did I order. The one on the left is butter prawns with pancakes. That was very very delicious. The cream is thick and the garlic wasn't overwhelming. Eating pancakes with prawns is really creative man. They have other choices such as scrambled egg, ham etc. The one on the right is berries served with pancakes with an ice cream topping. The sauce is savory and most importantly, the pancakes are served hot and fluffy. This place is a must-try. It can be quite crowded and noisy during peak hours, but the wait is worthwhile when you get to eat their hot fluffy pancakes!

Slappy Cakes (Turf City)

I've always loved pancakes and especially since i've gotten my braces since it's soft yet tasty. I decided to give sloppy cakes a try.
This place is unique because it give you a chance to prepare your own pancakes. You can design your pancakes in any shape or size you like.

So here's the pan right in front of me. Basically, you make your own pancakes, right at your own table.

There are several options provided for the batter and toppings.

I've ordered the buttermilk and chocolate batter at $8 each. It taste better with toppings. Although it was really fun to create your own pancakes, the pancakes tasteed bland without additional toppings. Nevertheless, you should give this place a try since it's fun. This place has a pleasant ambiance that's good for get-togethers. It can be rather crowded during the weekends.

Tim Ho Wan

I haven't been updating my casual food blog here so I'll shall start now since it's summer break! I shall try my best to recall the different foods i've tried over the past half a year (or so?)

As my parents were born in Hong Kong, I've been eating a lot of dim sum since young and so I can pretty much tell a good dim sum from a bad one. Tim Ho Wan's dim sum is definitely of a higher standard and they serve standard items such as char siew bun (a must-try), carrot cake, cheung fun, steamed chicken rice etc. They do not have a large menu but each item is of high quality.  Do drop by Tim Ho Wan for a taste of authentic dim sum at a very reasonable price. Usually, a meal for two costs around $20-$30.

As of today, there are 4 Tim Ho Wan outlets in Singapore. The queue is not as crazily long as before but it can get quite crowded during lunch or dinner times. The alternative is take away  like what we did (although it is very environmentally unfriendly :/)

Oceans of Seafood (Turf City)

Another place that is filled with lots of good cafes and restaurants is the Turf City along Bukit Timah. This place may not be very accessible if you take the public transport but I've noticed some shuttle bus to this place so take a look at the last picture of this post below!

My family was wandering around trying to find a place to have our lunch and we found this interesting seafood market place restaurant called Oceans of Seafood. It is the biggest restaurant in PasarBella. It is basically like a market place with many shops and restaurants all under one roof. I love seafood and the Oceans of Seafood captivated me.

This is the drinks menu. They serve sakes, soft drinks, jap tea etc

This is the sushi menu. They have all the standard sushi such as the salmon, scallop, prawn, tuna etc. They have wonderful sashimi sets and also premier sushi such as the tuna blue fin.

we ordered something simple and standard. The sushi was VERY VERY FRESH. There's an after- taste that lingers in my mouth after each mouthful. You can see for yourself from the picture, the raw fish is really fresh.

OYSTERS! THIS. Is my love. You can say i have a fetish with oysters xD but seriously, it's very rare to find fresh and tasty oysters in S'pore. Here, I've found big tasty fresh yummy oysters. These are so fresh that i wanna eat it without any Tabasco sauce at all. Just the plain oyster brought me to cloud nine. And it was so creamy! i will definitely order more oysters the next time i visit this place. The oyster range from $5-$9 per piece. The cheaper Australian oysters can be bought in half dozens.

Some more sushi that is very fresh and savory. the fish eggs were crunchy too, another sign that tells me this place serves really fresh food.

My brother ordered salmon don. To my surprise, the serving was rather huge with quite a decent amount of fresh salmon on top of the rice. Looks and taste yummy!

This has a market place concept, so you basically choose the seafood on display and they will cook it for you. And so, every seafood you eat is 100% fresh! My family decided to spend a mini bomb on one of the seafood set platter. (see below)

Yes, this is the seafood platter ($98 ++) This platter has like 10 prawns, one Boston lobster, bamboo clams and the normal clams. These seafood are really fresh. They basically shimmer the seafood without frying or adding any sauce while cooking it, so that the original freshness of the seafood can be retained. You simply dip the seafood in the sauces they provide. I love seafood and this really did satisfy me. yay!

I wanted to show the "before-after" picture. These are the rubbish left by (please don't be surprise) what is mostly eaten by me xD  Yes i can eat a lot when it comes to seafood :)

Oh I took random pictures of the chef using the fire thing to make smoked sushi. Looks really cool from i was sitting.

So have i convinced you to visit this place? This place serve very good sushi and seafood. Although the ambiance may not be quiet and it may be quite pricey, this place is very worth visiting for their fresh ingredients. They seem to be short of service crew but i believe that is so because i visited the place on a Sunday. Do come by soon!

Habitat Coffee (2)

One of my favorite cafes is the Habitat coffee since I live around the Thomson area. I've been there a couple of times more so i decided to post even more pictures of this wonderful cafe!

Eggs benedict. Looks and taste equally yummy and delicious. So so so worth a try! For those wearing braces, you have to be careful of the bread, it may be kinda hard.

If I'm not mistaken, this is Curry It. It's a curry pasta with potato. A very clever fusion dish indeed!

THIS. Is my best friend here. My favorite dish in this cafe. I will never get tired of big breakfast sets :)

Ocean Linguine. A decent amount of mushrooms and fish. Very yummy and smells very good.

Waffles with ice cream. Warm waffles fits very well with the icy ice cream! It's so savory, i think i can swallow a few servings of this heavenly dish :)

Chessynara. Cream pasta and cheese sausages. It's surprisingly, not a very filling dish. You will still have space for reset after this :)

Caramel Coffee! The art is so pretty i took quite a few pictures before I actually drank it xD It tastes as good as it looks! Not too sweet, just the way I like it.

This cafe serves good food and has great ambiance, especially during the non peak hours. It has just the right atmosphere for you to spend the entire afternoon catching up with your friends. My favorite cafe indeed! Do find out more about this cafe in my earlier post Habitat coffee (1)
